- Personal Agency: Everyone has the power and capability to actively shape their future. They seek individuals who have consistently demonstrated initiative and proactiveness in their work and actions, reflecting a strong sense of personal agency.
- Exemplary Proof-of-work: Past performance does not necessarily predict future performance, but it offers valuable insights into an individual’s character and capabilities. A history of exemplary work in any domain will serve as a strong indicator of your skills, ability, and potential.
- Resourcefulness: The Fellowships will provide financial aid to get your project off the ground, but how creatively can you use that funding to achieve the maximum impact in the shortest amount of time? They’re looking for people who are determined, have demonstrated good judgment, and can make ingenious use of limited resources to achieve their goals.
Funding Information
- All fellows receive a $100,000 equity-free grant to pursue their projects for one year, post which they will help them raise equity if they choose to do so.
- Alongside their ten Fellowships, up to twenty individuals will each receive a $10,000 grant and access to OSV’s network of founders, investors, and experts to support them in bringing their projects to life.
Eligibility Criteria
- The fellowship is open to adults worldwide, regardless of their background. They only require that you have a strong portfolio of proof of work.
- Individuals over the age of 18 can apply.

My name is Dr. Kassim TCHAN ISSIFOU, President of the NGO AVENIR-ALAFIA. The main objective of the NGO AVENIR ALAFIA is to contribute to the protection, improvement, sustainable management of agricultural and forest soils and to the analysis of the functioning of non-timber forest product value chains in order to identify the most appropriate interventions to maximize the impacts on local communities and on the national and international economy. Specifically, this will involve:
• Developing innovative initiatives (ideas, concrete projects) in the direction of agro-food transformation, protection and sustainable land management;
• Organizing training, awareness-raising, broadcasts, round tables, seminars, workshops and discussions on issues related to ecological agriculture and the transformation of agricultural products into final products;
• Inform on good practices of sustainable land management and the challenges of sustainable development in order to bring about a change in behavior at the level of the different socio-professional levels;
• Support local communities through concrete projects for the valorization of agricultural products and the development of added value chains;
• Support vulnerable groups through ecological, social and economic projects for the judicious and sustainable exploitation of agricultural and forestry products;
• Encourage local populations and other vulnerable groups to develop creative ideas in the agri-food sector;
• Support basic education for the youngest by integrating introductory courses on the protection and sustainable management of land as well as the processing of agricultural products into training curricula;

• Renforcer les capacités des acteurs impliqués dans le domaine de transformation agro-alimentaire et de l’agriculture biologique à travers des formations, des stages professionnels de recyclage, des séminaires, des voyages d’études, des ateliers de réflexion et des échanges d’information et d’expériences.
• Etablir des partenariats et collaborations avec d’autres ONG, associations, fondations, agences privées/publiques nationales et internationales partageant les mêmes visions que notre Organisation.

In recent times, my people have decided to drop cultural green burial practice to embrace the environmental threatening embalming practice and they do this indiscriminately without considering future consequences and their common source of drinking water comes from dug wells, rivers and stream closer to them. I wish to embark on a campaign program to discourage them to abandon this burial practice and reembrace the green burial practice. This can only be achieved if there are financial and materia resources enough to support me.
During my Masters degree program few years ago, I carried out a research to investigate the presence of embalming chemicals in the soil nd water bodies in my village, I came out with a shocking result of our soil and water bodies around the burial sites were contaminated with embalming chemicals.
I really wish to publish books and go through our traditional institutions to expose this life threatening burial practice.
