Location: Arusha, Tanzania required + travel within the region to meet the needs of the position or attend regional events as needed.
Reports to: Tanzania Program Lead
Term: 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on job performance and project-based funding availability
Salary: $20,000 per year

Position Overview
TeachUNITED is seeking a Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Manager to support the implementation of its teacher training programs in Tanzania, based in the Arusha office. This role will collaborate closely with the Regional Director, Program Lead, Instructional Coaches, and Global Monitoring and Evaluation team.
Roles and Responsibilities
The M&E Manager will oversee the design and execution of the M&E program for a multi-year project. This includes managing data collection and reporting activities using both quantitative and qualitative methods. We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in nonprofit M&E, preferably in education and/or school-based initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Monitoring & Evaluation Management: Administer surveys, conduct observations, and gather frequent data from school sites in order to evaluate TeachUNITED’s success.
- Facilitate External M&E Partnership: Help support partnerships with external M&E specialists and data collectors.
- Educational Activities: You will support teachers in TeachUNITED’s teacher training program by assisting with workshops, occasional school site visits, and supporting data collection as required.
- Team Communications: You will ensure timely and consistent communication with
Instructional Coaches, Country Directors, and the Global Operations team, striving to respond within 48 hours.
- Due to team time zones, must be available for weekly meetings scheduled between 4-7pm EAT.
- Communications and Reporting: Communicate and report frequently with fellow TeachUNITED Trainers, Program Lead, and Regional Director, including weekly updates to work calendar, project plans, reports, video meetings, email, etc. You will assist the Operations Manager in tracking and maintaining financial processes and approvals as requested.

- Travel Required: Visit each school site as the implementation schedule dictates. Attend meetings and/or training in other locations, as required.

Candidate Profile
Required Experience
- 8+ years of experience in Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E)
- Strong background in study design, data collection, and survey administration
- Demonstrated experience working in M&E for a nonprofit organization
- Deep understanding of the education sector and nonprofit environments
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical proofreading
- Proficiency with common office tools (e.g., Gmail, Google Classroom, Microsoft Word, Excel). Advanced spreadsheet or survey tool skills are a plus
- Ability to work independently while delivering high-quality results and knowing when to seek support
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong follow-through on tasks
- Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills
- Positive, collaborative attitude and enthusiasm for contributing to a mission-driven organization
