Social Media Specialist

Overview:

The Social Media Specialist will help grow OSSO’s online presence by creating engaging, authentic content that connects with a young, adventurous audience. This position will assist with planning and scheduling monthly social media content while independently creating Reels, posts, Stories, and other content that showcases OSSO’s volunteer experiences, impact, and opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with developing and maintaining OSSO’s monthly social media content calendar.
  • Plan, create, and schedule engaging content for Instagram, Facebook, and other applicable platforms.
  • Create short-form video content, including Reels and trend-based content.
  • Create carousel posts, graphics, Stories, and other social media content.
  • Stay current on social media trends, formats, sounds, and strategies relevant to OSSO’s target audience.
  • Develop creative content ideas that appeal to college students and young adults.
  • Capture and repurpose existing photos, videos, testimonials, and volunteer experiences into engaging content.
  • Help maintain a consistent brand voice, visual style, and messaging across social media platforms.
  • Generate weekly reports detailing key metrics and performance
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Director to support monthly campaigns, recruitment initiatives, and organizational goals.

Qualifications:

  • Experience creating content for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of current social media trends and short-form video.
  • Ability to create engaging Reels, Stories, carousel posts, and other social content.
  • Creative and comfortable developing new ideas independently.
  • Strong understanding of what resonates with college students and young adults.
  • Organized and able to manage a content calendar and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and visual communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Canva and basic video editing tools preferred.
  • Interest in international travel, volunteerism, or nonprofit work preferred.

Time Commitment: 20 hours a week, flexible schedule

Compensation: $12/hr
