BACKGROUND

The Global Buildings Performance Network (GBPN) is a global and regionally focused not-for-profit organization whose mission is to decarbonise the building sector. We only have 8 years to half buildings sector GHG emissions and be on a zero-emissions path. GBPN is tackling this challenge through policy reform, working with local experts and partners.

With staff members located around the World in Indonesia, India, Singapore, Australia, and Europe, GBPN brings over 10 years of knowledge and innovation to sustainable building policy reform. With every project, governments leverage our intellectual capital, our experience, analysis, evidence, and our network.

GBPN’s goal is to help the building sector achieve its full energy savings and CO2 mitigation potential of more than 2.1 Gt by 2030. To do that, GBPN assists governments and industry to implement climate change actions in their building sectors that help achieve their commitment to the Paris Climate Agreement and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

We are now recruiting a Global Networks Associate to join our Global Operations team and support with the growth, coordination, and visibility of GBPN’s network of partners, experts, and collaborators. This role is for anyone who wants to work in a dynamic and fast-growing organization with a strong mission to tackle the climate crisis we all face.

Scope of Work

Key Responsibilities

  1. Network development and engagement
    • Support the onboarding and engagement of new GBPN partners/organizations and changemakers/experts across priority geographies, particularly in high-impact and emerging markets.
    • Coordinate outreach, scheduling, follow-up and relationship management activities with network partners and experts.
    • Maintain and update network databases, engagement trackers, and network mapping tools.
    • Support senior staff in cultivating relationships with strategic partners, including preparation of briefing materials, meeting notes, and follow-up actions.
    • Assist with the implementation and operationalisation of GBPN’s “Glocal” Network Strategy in close collaboration with country teams.
    • Coordinate partner engagement activities linked to collaborative initiatives, including events, funding proposals, and knowledge sharing.
    • Help identify opportunities to strengthen regional representation, thematic diversity, and cross-sector collaboration across the network.
  2. Global events and knowledge sharing
    • Coordinate logistics and planning for virtual and in-person network events, workshops, and webinars.
    • Support the delivery of GBPN knowledge exchange activities, including learning sessions and expert learning sessions.
    • Prepare agendas, background materials, participant communications, and post-event summaries.
    • Support facilitation of discussions and interactive sessions where appropriate.
    • Coordinate partner participation in major global conferences and events such as COP.
    • Assist in tracking participation, capturing key insights, and documenting outcomes from network engagement activities.
    • Support GBPN country project outcomes by liaising with any external partners or experts involved in project deliverables.
  3. Strategic Communications and network visibility
    • Support the development and dissemination of GBPN Network communications, including newsletters, and flagship communication series such as the Solutions Series and Expert series.
    • Coordinate communications inputs from partners and changemakers to the GBPN Communications teams to highlight network activities and impact stories.
    • Draft internal and external communications materials, including summaries, announcements, invitations, and engagement content.
    • Support visibility efforts related to GBPN participation in global events, strategic dialogues, and partnership activities.
    • Help strengthen cross-network visibility of best practices, emerging solutions and expert leadership.
  4. Cross-Team Coordination Support
    • Provide coordination and administrative support to the Chief Operations Officer (COO) to support network delivery and organisational priorities.
    • Coordinate scheduling of meetings, preparation of materials, and follow-up on actions to ensure timely progress.
    • Support the Head of Knowledge and Technical Excellence with coordination of Quarterly Internal Knowledge Sharing Sessions.
    • Support internal reporting processes, including donor and board reporting, related to network KPIs and engagement metrics.
    • Support the organisation and delivery of quarterly GBPN Town Halls and other internal engagement activities.
    • Support the needs analysis of the network to map workflows and new technologies that strengthen network efficiency, engagement and effectiveness.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in international development, environmental studies, public policy, communications, sustainability, political science, or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of relevant professional experience, including internships or early-career roles in stakeholder engagement, partnerships, communications, event coordination, or network management.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to engage respectfully across diverse cultures, sectors, and geographies.
  • High-level organisation and project management, including online and in-person event planning and management (e.g. webinars and panels), preferably in a multi-stakeholder or international environment.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to follow up effectively and ensure tasks are completed on time.
  • Strong written and verbal English skills, with the ability to prepare clear and engaging concept notes, invitations, and summaries.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Confident using digital collaboration tools (e.g. Google Workspace, Zoom).
  • Reliable internet connection and ability to work across multiple time zones when required.
  • (Preferred) Familiarity with the role of the buildings sector in climate mitigation, adaptation, and sustainable development.
  • (Preferred) Knowledge of social media platforms, audience targeting, CRMs, especially Zoho is a bonus.

Conditions

  • Candidates should have the ability to work remotely with a suitable home office set up.
  • Ideally, the role should be based in a location to support time zones across Australia, S.E. Asia, India, China, EU and East Africa however other locations will be considered.
  • The successful candidate must be fluent in spoken and written English.
  • While the organisation prioritises the wellbeing of its team members, flexibility will be required at times, to support multiple time zones.
  • Preference will be given to candidates based in Asia or Africa in line with the organisation’s regional and operational needs.

Place of work: Remote – (at home or preferred work-place)
Anticipated start of work: July – August 2026
Duration: Initial contract until Dec 2026 – 5 days per week Opportunity to renew annually subject to satisfactory performance and available funding

Direct report

The Global Networks Associate will report directly to the Chief Operations Officer and work in close collaboration across the Operations and Communications team.
