Indigenous Climate Action is seeking an outgoing and motivated individual to fill the role of Climate Leadership Coordinator. Under the guidance of the Education and Training Manager, the Climate Leadership Coordinator will primarily focus on Climate Leadership trainings, and supporting the growth of the Climate Leadership Program (CLP). The Program Coordinator will be responsible for assisting in the coordination and facilitation of ICA’s CLP. The CLP is an online and in-person training that aims to support Indigenous peoples to be climate change leaders, support the development of regionally and effective climate action, and build a network of Indigenous climate leaders.

DUTIES:
- Assist in planning and delivery of ICA’s Climate Leadership Program and associated trainings
- Assist in the development of additional workshops on topics related to climate justice and Indigenous rights
- Organize and attend gatherings to promote the climate curriculum and associated Climate Leadership program
- Ensure the climate curriculum and Climate Leadership program address an array of regional needs and necessary skills
- Support the evaluation and improvement the climate curriculum and Climate Leadership program based on testing and feedback
- Support program participants in program follow-up
- Extensive travel
- Work closely with the Manager of Education and Training and report to the Steering Committee when required
- Regular reporting to the Manager of Education and Training on project progress
- Create and maintain positive partnership relationships
- Assist in the creation of funding reports, annual reports, including public communications for audits and public reports
- Other assigned duties
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1 – 3 years of community engagement skills or equivalent experience
- 1 – 3 years of facilitation experience is preferred
- Previous attendance to ICA’s Climate Leadership Training and Facilitation Training an asset
- Demonstrated experience working with Indigenous communities, organizations, Nations and peoples
- Post Secondary education an asset, but not required
- Ability to take direction and work independently with little or no supervision
- Desire to efficiently work as a team player
- Computer literate including Google Suite
- Member of an Indigenous community and fluency in an Indigenous language an asset
- Knowledge of Indigenous worldview and methodologies
- Having a working computer and strong internet access is essential for this position
- Interpersonal skills
The position is full time and entails a 30-35 hours work week. However, some travel and evening/weekend hours may be required. The successful candidate must be willing to be flexible and work hours required to meet ICA expectations. A Criminal Record Check along with Child and Adult Abuse Registry checks may be required conditions of employment. ICA can assist with this process if need be.
SALARY: $55,000 to $65,000 annual salary depending on qualifications
