Deadline Date: January 15, 2026
The Africa Centre for Energy Policy has announced its Next Generation Resource Governance Leaders Program to balance theory with real-world application and equip participants with the requisite multi-disciplinary intellectual development, practical skills and research abilities to think in more innovative ways to solve complex governance challenges.
The Program aims to build a pipeline of young pan-African leaders by providing structured capacity development, hands-on training and exposure to a professional working environment that supports growth, innovation and ethical leadership.
Trainings will focus on resource governance in Africa and beyond, transformational leadership, professional and career development, digital communication and technology skills. Participants will be equipped with practical tools and skillsets to set and achieve realistic personal and professional goals while preparing them for success in the world of work.
Applicants are expected to have relevant academic qualifications in fields related to economics, engineering, oil and gas management, public policy, law, development studies, project management, communications, statistics, or related disciplines, alongside strong analytical, writing and interpersonal skills.
Selected NextGen Leaders will contribute to evidence-based policy analysis, research, training and advocacy activities that strengthen ACEP’s role as a thought leader in Africa’s energy and extractive policy space.
Their responsibilities will include supporting research and policy writing, stakeholder engagement, program planning and evaluation, organizational development, resource mobilization and monitoring and evaluation activities.
The Program provides a generous stipend, lunch for the duration of the engagement, decent accommodation for international participants and an approved return ticket from the participant’s home country to Ghana.
ACEP is inviting applications from young Africans residing in Africa who are not older than 32 years and who demonstrate a strong passion for ensuring that the continent’s energy and extractive resources contribute to sustainable and inclusive development.
Applicants are required to submit a single PDF file containing their curriculum vitae, copies of higher education degree certificates, a motivational statement, a reference letter, a response to one application essay question, and a copy of their national ID.
All documents must be in English or accompanied by certified English translations. Successful applicants from the initial review stage will be invited for interviews by the end of July 2025. Applications close at 11:59 PM GMT on Thursday, January 15, 2026.
