About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications, the Marketing & Communications Coordinator plays a pivotal role in supporting the team with day-to-day marketing activities, content creation, and administrative tasks. This includes managing Startup Canada’s digital channels, social media, and website, and ensuring they stay current and aligned with organizational goals. The coordinator will also work closely with partners to ensure marketing and communications requirements are met while helping to create engaging content, run promotional campaigns, and provide live event coverage. By acting as a liaison for partners and supporting strategic initiatives, this role amplifies Startup Canada’s mission to connect and empower early-stage entrepreneurs across the country.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong interpersonal skills, verbal communication skills, and ability to maintain relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- A self-starter who is adaptable and agile to changing priorities.
- Calm under pressure, with demonstrated creative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to write and produce content that captures an audience’s attention through creative, articulate, and original writing while staying on top of the latest social media trends to ensure content is relevant and engaging.
- Ability to edit and produce reel content, including the addition of captions
- Skilled at editing and proofreading with proven attention to style, tone, and detail.
- Knowledgeable of website analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics) with strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking.
- Working knowledge and understanding of SEO best practices for content creation and website optimization.
- Solid understanding of email marketing best practices and CASL/CAN-SPAM compliance.
- Ability to quickly understand and translate a program’s vision, purpose, and operations into written content.
- Knowledgeable of Canadian entrepreneurial best practices, small businesses, marketing, data management and strategies to support Canadian entrepreneurs.
- Strong digital literacy and computer skills, including the ability to use social media tools, ActiveCampaign/Constant Contact, Google suite, Canva, Notion (or similar project management tool), and Slack. Experience using media monitoring tools is also an asset.
- Ability to be flexible and versatile in a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency.
- Be willing to travel for work (no more than 4 weeks per year).
Salary & Perks
- Annual salary range: $50,000 to $52,000, commensurate with experience
- 35 paid days off per calendar year, including 10 vacation days, 5 flexible Mental Health Days per year, end of year 2 week office closure, Summer office closure, extra days in lieu after major events, and 4 additional office closure days throughout the year on Easter Monday, Civic Holiday, Truth & Reconciliation Day, and Remembrance Day.
