Job Title: Behavioural Research and M&E Specialist – Consultant
Location: Remote (Preference for candidates based in MENA, Africa, or LAC)

Duration: Rolling basis (Long-term framework consultancy)
Remuneration: $400 per day, depending on experience and qualifications
Work Permissions: Must be legally entitled to work in the country of residence
Operating across the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean, MAGENTA employs behavioural science principles in research, strategy, campaigns, and implementation.
The MAGENTA LAB focuses on research, evaluation, and experimentation to support social-impact organizations, including UN agencies, INGOs, governments, and the private sector.
Key Responsibilities
The selected consultant will report to the CEO and support global and regional teams. Main tasks include:
- Designing mixed-methods behavioural research methodologies
- Scoping research and managing stakeholder expectations
- Developing data collection instruments and analysis plans
Advising on ERB protocol development - Leading research report drafting and data analysis (descriptive, inferential statistics, regression, SEM, segmentation)
- Providing technical review of research products
- Developing guides and templates for MAGENTA LAB tools
- Conducting training sessions on research topics
Note: Each task will be assigned via specific Purchase Orders with an agreed-upon scope and budget.
Requirements
- Degree: Relevant degree from a top-tier university; Masters or PhD preferred
- Experience: Minimum 12 years professional experience, including at least 7 years in research within the humanitarian/development sector
Skills: Strong knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods; experience with behavioural research preferred - Experience: Building M&E systems, conducting evaluations, familiarity with MEAL standards; experience with RCTs or quasi-experimental evaluations is an asset
Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to work effectively with governments, partners, and stakeholders in complex settings - Regional Knowledge: Experience living in the Global South required
- Languages: Excellent English; Arabic, Spanish, or French are assets
- Software Skills: NVivo, SPSS/Stata/R, Sprockler, KoBo, Tableau, Microsoft 365
