The Vacancy

We are seeking a Finance Officer for the Sudan programme to be based in Uganda. The Finance Officer will play a key role in supporting smooth and efficient financial management within Saferworld Sudan. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the post holder will help maintain strong financial systems and controls, ensuring that financial records are accurate, comprehensive and up to date. The role will work closely with the Finance Manager, Finance Coordinator and wider team to uphold high standards of financial integrity across the Sudan office, including bookkeeping, banking tasks and monthly financial processes.

The Finance Officer will be responsible for processing payments, reviewing supporting documents, maintaining bank and petty cash reconciliations, and ensuring consistency across general ledger accounts and budget codes. The role will prepare monthly financial reports, upload transactions, support balance sheet reconciliations and ensure timely filing of statutory requirements such as WHT. The post holder will also provide audit support by retrieving samples and preparing confirmations, and will contribute to ongoing improvements in internal controls and financial systems as required by management.
